Beereview: The Bruery Provisions, Old Towne Orange

Craft beer has gained in popularity and has taken the beer industry by storm within the last few years. One place that knows what they are doing when it comes to this industry is "The Bruery Provisions" in Old Towne Orange. Stop by, grab a flight of 5 craft "bru's," a cheese and meat plate and enjoy the smell of hops in the air!

"The Bruery Provisions" in Old Towne Orange is a branch of "The Bruery" located in Placentia which was started up by accidental brewer, Patrick Rue. A day of brewing beer with his brother, Chris and wife Rachel, turned into an excellent business idea. After a few years of home brewing, Patrick decided to dedicate his life to bringing craft goods to the community while teaching them about the people behind those craft goods. With that, "The Bruery" and "The Bruery Provisions" was born.

Their beers are the purest of the pure in the sense that they do not filter or pasteurize them and the carbonation is created from 100% bottle conditioning. They would like their consumers to know that they lean towards using unconventional ingredients and they specialize in Belgium and Experimental brews. So if you're craving a Bud Light, "The Bruery" or "The Bruery Provisions" might not be for you but I am sure that the friendly experts could help you find something that you will enjoy!

I had the pleasure of going to "The Bruery Provisions" last week on a Thursday night and the place was pleasantly packed. Having opened its doors in 2010, the store has really grown to be a great hangout amongest the community of Orange ranging from college students, business professionals, and couples looking for a fun and interactive date night. We were greeted by the specialty market and an abundance of beer, wine, cheese, meat, and the aroma of hops. After perusing the market, we made our way back to the tasting room and grabbed a seat at the high hop communal tables and took a look at their menu full of beers and their descriptions, cheese and meat platters and what they pair well with, multiple wines, and their signature beer flights.

We decided to go with their 2 beer flights which consisted of 5 tasters each: The Classic Flight ($7) and The Specialty Flight($9). Unfortunately, we had already eaten but we will for sure be going back for a meat and cheese plate (the Point Reyes one looked amazing! Pt. Reyes Blue cheese, Backyard Bees Honey, CA Honeycomb, Caramalized Walnuts, and Grampy Pats Bread...oh my goodness!) We had so much fun tasting all the beers and guessing which one was which, comparing flavors, deciding which ones we loved and which ones we didn't like as much.

I have yet to make it to "The Bruery" but after getting a taste of the company and their concept at "The Bruery Provisions," my next stop will definitely be up to Placentia to check out what they have in store for me there! My guess is more great beer and friendly service like their sister store :)

They have a "Beer 101" class on May 16th which Sean and I will be attending to learn all about Summer and Spring Ales! Check back for a post about that and i'll share all that we learned!
